Private Practice Building: Freedom from Boredom in Our Work

Author: Jeff Herring

Each Monday morning as I drive to the office here in Tallahassee, Florida, I glance at the drivers next to me and try to pick out the ones that look as if they are about to begin 'a five day sentence' doing something they hate to do.

It's sad but true. Most people spend their lives bored into a trance while working for someone else. No wonder so many people live for the weekend and get anxious when Sunday night rolls around.

And I once again thank God that I get to do something I love every day.

Doing what you love

Sure working for yourself has its drawbacks. After all, you have yourself for a boss.

But the worst day I have ever spent in private practice is better than any best day working for someone else.

It takes a lot of work to make a private practice go over the long term. It's been said that part of being an entrepreneur is quitting a job where you work 8 hours a day for someone else so you can work 15 hours a day for yourself.

There are long days for sure. But again, the longest day working for yourself doing what you love can still be better than a day off working for some one else doing something you dislike.
